![]() | Country Cures is an interactive project in which you can help us gather information about the sometimes familiar, often surprising, use of plants in traditional medicine. It is a tribute to herbal remedies, not those from ancient books or old scientific journals, but those kept alive by word of mouth between generations. All the plants featured can be seen in the Museum's Wildlife Garden, which is open to visitors from May to September. You can also take part by sending us your cures. Email Roy Vickery or write to Roy Vickery, Department of Botany, The Natural History Museum, London, SW7 5BD, UK. ![]() 'Bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliate) - dig up roots and boil, then drain water and drink everyday, as a cure for blackheads and pimples.'
