Daphne works in the Department of Zoology and is part of the team responsible for identifying mammal specimens. The Museum contains over 70 million specimens of plants, animals and minerals. Museum scientists, such as Daphne, use the collection to classify, that is, to describe and categorise the diversity of the natural world.

Despite modern methods of identifying specimens such as DNA sequencing, the most common method is to compare them with other specimens in the Museum's collections. Using the Museum's mammal skull collection, Daphne began to hunt down the identity of the mysterious beast...
