The use of plantain species to treat cuts has also been recorded from Peru and it is used to treat coughs and soothe insect bites. Practitioners of herbal medicine use it to treat numerous ailments, including bronchitis, inflammation of the middle ear and gastro-enteritis (inflammation of the stomach).
