Taxonomy

Salicornia dolichostachya is a succulent annual plant that grows up to 45cm tall.

It belongs to the Goosefoot family (Chenopodiaceae) along with a number of sea shore plants and the edible beets such as beetroot and sugar beet

Salicornias are difficult plants to tell apart and classify. DNA studies can be used to understand their relationships.
