Behaviour

We know from fossil footprints that pterosaurs walked on all fours, with the wings flexed at the joint between the metacarpal and the first finger bone.

They were unable to fold the wing in the same way as birds.

Studies of the brain cavity inside the skull show that pterosaurs had highly developed spatial awareness and balance which are essential for dynamic flight.

It is tempting to compare pterosaurs with birds, and to speculate that pterosaurs may have had mating rituals, social gatherings and territorial disputes, but we will never know for certain.
