Distribution and habitat

Habitat

Hepialus humuli occurs in many types of open or semi-open habitats such as old pastures.

Distribution

The moth occurs throughout:

  • most of continental Europe and probably adjacent Siberia
  • Great Britain

A distinct form occurs on the:

  • Shetland Islands
  • Faroe Islands

Migration

Like most European Hepialidae, Hepialus humuli does not migrate to any significant extent.
