Distribution and abundance

L. gigantea can be found in the high to mid-rocky intertidal region from northern California (~39ºN) to southern Baja California (~26ºN) on the Pacific coast.

L. gigantea are most abundant in the center of their geographic range (central California to northern Baja California; Fenberg 2008).
