Lingula anatina from the sea around Zamboanga,
Philippines.
This jar of Lingula was collected during the Challenger Expedition. HMS Challenger sailed around the world for three and a half years from December 1872 to May 1876 collecting oceanographic information. The discoveries made during the voyage and research on the material collected revolutionised oceanographic science.
The label attached to this jar gives the date the animals were collected, 23 October 1874 and 1 February 1875, and the conditions where they were found, low water, shore, sand. It is close to actual size.
