Buff ermine moth caterpillar, Spilosoma luteum

The buff ermine caterpillar has a dull orange head, dark body, and spiky reddish-orange hairs. 

It’s a common species within most of Britain, and the moths typically fly between May and July. 

The moth is a buff (pale yellow-brown) colour, which is responsible for its name.
