This spider is silvery grey with a brown oak leaf pattern on its back.
It is one of the most common spiders in the UK and is classically found around the corners of windows. If you look closely at the web you will notice that one of the sections of the orb web is missing, hence its common name.
Males are usually seen in the summer months. Females can be seen all year round.
