Common rough woodlouse, Porcellio scaber

One of the most common species in the UK and a frequent house visitor, the common rough woodlouse is usually found in damp places under logs and stones.

This species is characterised by its bumpy surface, which you can see clearly under a hand lens.

Unlike the common pill woodlouse, this species does not roll up into a ball but it can run fairly fast if threatened.
