Common sea slater, Ligia oceanica

Widespread around the coastline of the UK, the common sea slater is found in rock pools, crevices and under stones. 

This large woodlouse can can grow to 3cm long. It has a flattened, oval-shaped body, large black eyes and is grey to olive in colour. 

Active at night time, these creatures are pretty fast, running at about 1mph.
