Common woodlouse, Oniscus asellus

This woodlouse is the most widespread species in the British Isles, and one of the largest.

Like many woodlice, the common woodlouse is a great decomposer of organic matter, and usually found in rotting wood.

It is typically grey and characterised by pale edges to the body plates and a long telson (the last body segment).
