Feeding
This species, like all stick insects, is vegetarian, feeding exclusively on leaves (although after consuming the leaf to the base they may chew on the bark).
Like most wingless stick insects, the Lord Howe Island stick insect has been recorded feeding on a variety of plant species. The individuals found on Ball's Pyramid were feeding on the shrub Melaleuca.
In captivity they have been known to feed on species of figs and tree lucerne, and juveniles will thrive on bramble.
