35-40mm long at rest and up to 75mm when walking.
The giant velvet worm gives birth to live young. Rotting logs are thought to act as a nursery to the young and perhaps also a mating site.
Life expectancy is unknown but mean longevity of five years is assumed to be appropriate for this species.
