Anthracocentrus arabicus is relatively widespread in western Palaearctic desert regions, having been recorded from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia and part of the Saharan region (southern Algeria, northern Chad).
It is restricted to sandy desert regions, but only those where suitably large trees are present. In the United Arab Emirates, the species appears to be linked to open forests of ghaf trees (Prosopsis cineraria), which occupy only small parts of the territory and are increasingly threatened by rapid human development.
