Carabus olympiae is known only from 2 neighbouring localities in a single alpine valley in northern Italy’s mountainous Piemonte region, at an elevation between 800 and 1400m.

The species occurs both in beech woodland at lower elevation and in alder carrs and open alpine pastures higher up, especially where rhododendrons and rocks provide cover for the beetles.
The beetle is a predator, like all members in the genus, feeding on invertebrates especially the snail Arianta arbustorum which is common where the beetle occurs.
