Behaviour

All over tropical Africa, Papilio dardanus females mimic unpalatable lepidopterans. These co-occuring model species are diverse and include Danaidae, Acraeidea and several day-flying moths.

Natural food plants for larvae include Citrus. However, when bred in captivity the species has been shown to feed on species belonging to the genus Choisya.
