Distribution

Tabebuia aurea is widely distributed in the South American savannas (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay) as well as being extensively cultivated as an ornamental tree.

Habitat

This tree is common in the savannas of the Chaco region, in wet, sandy and stony soils and marginal areas for other species of trees.

It is associated with palm-savannas of Copernicia alba and sometimes forms pure wooded savannas known as paratodales.
