Morphology
It is often important to be able to distinguish among closely-related species of mosquito.
This can often be done by looking at the morphology of the adult male genitalia, or of the larval setae.
Members of the Anopheles albitarsis complex are so closely related that they cannot all be differentiated by morphology alone, and genetic characteristics must also be used.
