Distribution and Ecology

B. truncatus has been reported from North West Africa, Lower Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Algeria, Yemen, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Kenya, Malawi and Cameroon.

More recently, specimens have been collected from Tanzania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, Sardinia, Portugal.

In addition, a specimen from the Museum collections from Iraq have been identified as B. truncatus through DNA barcoding of part of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene.
