Distribution

Hoodia currorii is found in:

  • South West Africa
  • Angola, Botswana
  • Namibia
  • southern Zimbabwe

Although 3 occurrence records are mentioned in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), 2 from Angola and 1 from Namibia, no geo-referenced records are currently available.

This species has been collected at several points in Angola and throughout the northern parts of south west Africa.

In Angola, Hoodia currorii subsp. currorii is restricted to the very arid parts of the coastal Namib Desert. In Namibia it also occurs in this arid zone and further eastwards (up to 250km from the coast) in dry, short forest and in dry Acacia scrub vegetation.

Subspecies. lugardii is found further east than any other Hoodia species, growing on calcareous soil, and often forming a shrub.

Habitat

Hoodia currorii is found in plains, dry woodland and rocky areas.
