Mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor

These beetles are rather harmless, although they are often found within homes due to their attraction to dry food products such as flour, grains, and cereals. Their natural habitats include rotting wood, hollow trees, bat roosts, and bird nests, particularly those of sparrows and starlings. In their larval stage, mealworms generally do not travel far. However, the adult beetles do fly.
