Jersey tiger moth, Euplagia quadripunctaria
This striking, striped species, whose distribution was once limited to the Channel Islands, is spreading relatively quickly. It is now found in southern England with common sightings as far north as London. The Jersey tiger moth favours hemp-agrimony as it is reasonably well camouflaged against this species of plant. It is not a true day-flying moth but it will readily fly if disturbed to avoid predation.
