Biology

Betta brownorum lives in very shallow water bodies where complex root systems and high concentration of dead vegetation provide natural protection against predators.

Its diet is mainly composed of arthropods.

During the breeding season, the male builds up a nest formed by bubble aggregation using air and saliva - a bubble-nest. He then provides protection to the nest, and takes care of the fertilised eggs and early larval stages.
