The common house-dwelling booklouse is less than 2mm in length, grey or light brown and wingless. These are not true lice rather an order of insects called Psocoptera. They occur in slightly damp and humid parts of the house especially kitchens and bathrooms. Generally harmless, these pests feed on microscopic spores of moulds. A quick treatment would be a squirt of a proprietary flea spray but reducing the damp and humidity is a longer-term solution.
