Grain weevil, Sitophilus oryzae
This species, also known as the wheat weevil, is widely distributed in grain stores throughout the UK and can cause significant damage. It is very dark brown and shiny in appearance and will infest grain and cereal products in the home. Other similar species are the rice weevil and the maize weevil and, although these creatures tend to prefer warmer climates, infestations are brought to the UK through imported products. To break their lifecycle you will need to remove any food which is infested.
