The type series of Chaudhuria ritvae was collected from Hmoain pool near Einme in the Ayeyarwaddy delta region in Myanmar.
It is likely to occur in other areas of the river delta.
At the time of collection, Hmoain pool was about 20m long, up to 1m deep and 4m wide, with very dense aquatic vegetation consisting of lotos and water hyacinth. The water was clear, 29 degrees Celsius and pH 7.1. The bottom of the pool was muddy.
This pool is located in the Ayeyarwaddy delta floodplain at about 15m above sea level.
The cyclone Nargis hit the Ayeyarwaddy delta on 2 May 2008 and may have had a considerable impact on the type locality.
