Distribution
Syrrhopodon mahensis is confined to a few islands scattered around the western Indian Ocean. It is recorded from most islands in the Seychelles and from Réunion Island in the Mascarenes.
Habitat
Syrrhopodon mahensis flourishes in shady tropical forest, occurring on:
- Tree boles
- Fallen logs
- Tree stumps
- Rock
- Soil
It is mostly encountered in lowland areas, but has been recorded from altitudes well above 600m.
