This butterfly can sometimes be a pest on food crops since its caterpillars are more often found on cabbages. Both males and females have white wings with black tips on the forewings. Females are distinguished by two black spots on each forewing. The underside of large white butterflies is typically a pale green which serves as good camouflage from predators. Yet, they are often parasitised by the wasp Apanteles glomeratus. Wingspan ranges from 56-65 mm.
