Silver-washed fritillary, Argynnis paphia

The males of this species are typically a brighter orange than the females, but both are heavily spotted with black. Its common name comes from the streaks of silver on the underside of the wings. Woodland is its preferred habitat, and it is active throughout the summer months. Male wingspan 69-76 mm. Female 73-80 mm.
