These butterflies are remarkably similar to the large and small whites. However, they can be distinguished by the underside of their wings. The green-veined white has a yellow underside with marked veins that seem to be of a greenish hue. Like other whites, the sexes of this species look different. Females have two spots on each forewing, but males only have one spot at most. They are active between spring and autumn.
